Amazon express-delivering 700 new jobs to Melbourne suburbs
Global tech giant Amazon has opened 2 new, purpose-built sites in Melbourne’s northwest and southeast suburbs. This major $200 million investment in the state will create 700 local jobs.
The new fulfilment centre has now opened in Cranbourne West. This is creating more than 500 local jobs. It will cement Victoria’s position as a leader in logistics and supply chain.
Jobs at the Cranbourne West site range from entry-level jobs to skilled roles in:
- Operations
- Human Resources
- Engineering
- Workplace Health and Safety.
It will also offer training programs for licences such as forklift operation.
Amazon also opened a logistics facility in Ravenhall earlier this month, creating 200 new jobs.
These new facilities will support more Australian small and medium-sized businesses to sell their products to more customers. Customers will also have a greater selection of goods and faster delivery times.
Attracting investment from global companies like Amazon is a key priority to boost the state’s economy – generating jobs and driving growth in local Victorian communities.
Our Economic Growth Statement has made it simpler to do business in Victoria, while our $150 million Victorian Investment Fund will more attract strategic, high-value investments right across the state.
