Applications now open for Victorian Medical Research Acceleration Fund grants
Calling all Victorian health and medical researchers.
Applications are now open for round 8 of the Victorian Medical Research Acceleration Fund (VMRAF) grants. The grants are open to all eligible health and medical researchers in Victoria.
In this round, grants are available to fund projects at medical research institutes, hospitals, universities and organisations. The grants:
- support early-stage research (grants of up to $100,000)
- fast-track the translation of research into real-world outcomes (grants of up to $500,000).
Round 8 grants are helping address under representation of women in health and medical research. The VMRAF allocates bonus criteria in favour of applications with:
- a team consisting at least 50% women and/or
- a team whose Chief Investigator identifies as a woman.
Our Victorian Medical Research Acceleration Fund provides annual funding to accelerate health and medical research. Since 2017, we have funded over $22 million in grants to 122 projects under the VMRAF.
The VMRAF supports Victoria’s thriving medical research sector to accelerate breakthroughs and strengthen our health system.

- leads to life-saving discoveries for the health of Victorians.
Applications close 11:59 pm Wednesday 28 January. Successful applicants will be announced in 2026.
