Backing Victoria's smallest towns to thrive
There are 159 new projects on the way to regional and rural Victoria as part of round 2 of our Tiny Towns Fund.
Supported by grants of between $5,000 and $50,000, these projects will help regional communities of less than 5,000 people flourish through driven ideas that will bolster local economies and strengthen community ties.
Almost 350 projects are now supported through both rounds of the Tiny Towns Fund in more than 300 towns across the state. Plus we’re supporting more projects in outer suburban Melbourne.
Round 2 is supporting:
- 20 new buildings
- 53 outdoor upgrades
- 50 renovation-based projects.
This includes projects like:
- The Daisy Hill Community Centre, one more than 25 community space receiving an upgrade. Daisy Hill’s community centre will soon have a new kitchen for locals to use.
- A new silo art installation in Waaia to draw tourists to the northern Victorian town.
- A new public environmental art space at Willaura in western Victoria to showcase indigenous plants to tell the story of the six Djab Wurrung seasons.
Projects from round 1 of the Tiny Towns Fund are already supporting their local communities.
This includes an upgrade at Violet Town’s town hall, with a new projector and sound equipment enabling the screening movies and supporting better community events.
The Merton Community Skate Park is also now complete. The project – like many other Tiny Towns Fund projects – employed local contractors for the project’s construction.
