Melbourne’s west is set to get a major jobs boost. A leading Australian data centre company is massively expanding its footprint and opening its first Victorian campus in Brooklyn.

CDC has officially opened its data centre campus in Brooklyn. Two state-of-the-art facilities are up and running and planning is already underway for a third facility on the site.

The company is also developing a second campus in Laverton North. This  further cements Melbourne’s west as a major data centre cluster. Between the two sites, thousands of construction and ongoing jobs will be generated. More than $4 billion will be injected into the Victorian economy.

CDC’s expansion in the state shows our strength in attracting world-class digital infrastructure. This is supercharging Victoria’s computing power and capabilities.

The Victorian Government supported CDC to establish the Brooklyn campus. This adds to the more than 40 data centres across the state.

This is backed by the government’s $5.5 million Sustainable Data Centre Action Plan. This positions Victoria as the national leader in sustainable data centre investment.

Victoria is fast becoming a leading data hub in the Asia Pacific with other tech companies like Microsoft and Amazon Web Services also hosting data centres in the state.

Data centres are one of 6 key pillars under the government’s AI Mission Statement.
