Celebrating the 2025 Victorian International Education Awards
We are celebrating the outstanding international students who have made a lasting impact in our community at this year’s Victorian International Education Awards, and the education providers who make Victoria a world-class study destination.
The awards highlight the value of international students to Victoria. They contribute to the state’s:
- multicultural community
- critical research areas
- local talent pool
- economy.
This year’s winners and finalists showcased the diversity of the sector and how crucial international education is to enhancing our state’s cultural knowledge and global connectedness.
The Premier’s Award for International Student of the Year was awarded to Adiba Erfan for her community contribution, leadership and academic excellence. Since leaving Afghanistan to continue her education, Adiba has created education, health and empowerment opportunities for women.
The International Student of the Year recipients for 2025 are:
- Angela Sojan (the University of Melbourne): Higher Education
- Siyuan Yan (Monash University): Research
- Adiba Erfan (Hawthorn Melbourne): English Language Training
- Vishrut Goswami (Deakin University): Regional
- Eva Roche (Melbourne Metropolitan College): Vocational Education and Training
- Emily Chin (Deakin University): Emerging Leader – International Alumni Award
- Dr Ruwini Cooray (Deakin University): International Student/Graduate Entrepreneur of the Year
Federation University was recognised as Victorian International Education Provider of the Year in recognition of excellence and achievement in student employability, career development, transnational education, and international partnerships.
Victoria’s diversity is strengthened by more than 258,000 international students from more than 175 countries choosing to study in the state in 2024.
