Cycling tourism takes Victoria up a gear
Cycling is booming across Australia, and Victoria is at the heart of the surge.
Biking is a refreshing way to immerse yourself in nature and discover places far from the usual tourist trail.
In 2024, Victoria had the highest number of visitors with a trip that included cycling of any Australian state or territory. The numbers speak for themselves:
- 4.6 million trips included a cycling experience
- Visitors spent 42 million visitor nights enjoying cycling adventures
- Together, these trips generated an incredible $6 billion in total spend.
Cycling is also attracting global participation, with 1 in 20 international visitors to Australia taking part in a cycling activity during their stay.
We're investing in cycling tourism to give visitors even more reasons to explore our stunning regions on 2 wheels.
Projects supported through infrastructure investment include:
- Haunted Hills Mountain Bike Park
- Hammon Park Trail Head and Bike Park
- Goldfields Track
- Rokeby to Noojee
- Great Victorian Rail Trail Art Installations
- Murray to Mountains Rail Trail
- East Gippsland Rail Trail
