Driving growth in Victoria’s Automotive Industry

Australia’s largest automotive remanufacturing company has opened a new $114 million, state-of-the-art facility in Melbourne’s southeast, delivering a boost to the state’s automotive supply chain businesses.

Walkinshaw Group's new headquarters and expanded manufacturing facility in Dandenong South will create 155 new jobs in:

  • production
  • engineering
  • administration.

Walkinshaw Group specialises in vehicle enhancements and left-hand drive to right-hand drive conversions for global brands including:

The new 100,000-square-metre site is equal to 5 MCGs. It brings together operations from 3 existing sites and will manufacture more than 10,000 units each year for the Australian market.

As one of the 5 largest manufacturing facilities in the country, it includes Australia’s most advanced automotive engineering centre and more than 4 production lines. The site will also feature a renewable solar energy system to support future projects.

Victoria is home to a number of renowned automotive manufacturers, including:

  • Australia’s largest manufacturer of 4-wheel-drive accessories ARB
  • car enhancement manufacturer Premcar
  • seatbelt manufacturer APV.

Victoria’s broader automotive industry – ranging from parts and component makers to dealerships and servicing –employs more than 50,000 people in our state.
