Global French fry manufacturer to serve up jobs in Western Vic
We’re serving up French fries with a side of 250 new local jobs in Western Victoria, with a major Dutch food manufacturer setting up shop in Dooen, western Victoria.
Farm Frites is establishing a $300 million Asia Pacific manufacturing base in the Wimmera region. Supported by the Victorian Government, this will manufacture its popular frozen chips using Australian grown potatoes. Farm Frites supplies frozen potato-based products to takeaways, pubs, clubs and fast-food chains including Hungry Jacks and KFC.
When it’s up and running in 2027, the manufacturing plant will be able to produce up to 250,000 tonnes of frozen potato products every year.
The plant will support Victorian farmers, create jobs for local workers and offer training and career opportunities for students in a region with a proud agricultural history.
Australians love their hot chips. To keep up with demand, the factory will run 24 hours a day and will use the Wimmera Intermodal Freight Hub to distribute nationally
Farm Frites chose Dooen for its facility as it’s perfectly located between prime potato growing regions in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia. Plus, it is well connected by road and rail networks.
Victoria is the nation's manufacturing powerhouse. It has the largest and most established food and beverage manufacturing sector Australia. It creates more than $44 billion in sales and service income and employs more than 76,000 people.
