Health Summit strengthens Melbourne’s global medical research reputation

Melbourne has successfully bid to host the Global Hepatitis Summit 2027.

It is expected to attract almost 1000 attendees from all around the world.

The biennial summit brings together experts and practitioners. They will discuss the latest developments in liver disease including:

  • viral hepatitis
  • non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
  • hepatocellular carcinoma.

Attendees will be from diverse fields. They will  share knowledge and collaborate on research over the 4 days.

The summit will:

  • showcase Melbourne’s globally recognised research facilities
  • underscore Victoria’s reputation as a hub of medical research excellence
  • promote Australia as a world-renowned location for hepatitis.

The conference will take place in the first half of 2027. It will be at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Secured by the Victorian Government through the Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) in partnership with the Burnet Institute and the Doherty Institute.

The summit adds to an impressive line-up of international medical events. In the next 2 years, Melbourne will host:

  • the World Cancer Leaders’ Summit 2025
  • the World Congress of Gastroenterology 2025
  • the International Diabetes Federation’s Western Pacific Regional Congress 2026.
