Chisholm Institute has opened a new engineering facility at its Dandenong campus. The modern, bright space will be used by around 800 engineering students each year.

The facility includes advanced manufacturing tools like Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment. This means students can learn skills in CNC engineering, using computers to control tools like drills, lathes and mills.

Around 260,000 people are employed in Victoria’s manufacturing industry across more than 23,000 businesses.

A quarter of these workers are employed in Melbourne’s greater south-east. This area is home to the largest manufacturing hub in the country.

The new Chisholm facility in Dandenong supplies locally trained skilled workers to this sector. It also supports training in Free TAFE courses, including the Certificate II and Certificate IV in Engineering.

The Commonwealth Government has provided $1.95 million in funding. We have invested through the Skills Solutions Partnerships program.

The Skills Solutions Partnerships program supports industry to partner with training providers to co-design and deliver new training courses. The courses address critical skill gaps in priority sectors.
