Homegrown innovative sports tech scores big in Victoria
We’ve supported ASX-listed sports tech company HITIQ to expand its advanced manufacturing facility in South Melbourne, creating 26 high-skilled jobs and securing 20 ongoing roles.
HITIQ will grow its product development, manufacturing and R&D capabilities at its advanced manufacturing facility. This will drive faster commercialisation of its groundbreaking product.
HITIQ’s innovative ‘smart mouthguard’ technology is revolutionising concussion management. The mouthguard uses sensor data and applies AI-driven analytics to monitor and track potential head injuries. This leads to more timely and accurate concussion assessment.

The company has invested more than $30 million in R&D over the past decade to develop the patented product. It has been developed with and utilised by elite sports organisations including the AFL, AFLW, NRL, English Premier League and others.
HITIQ has also extended its reach into amateur, community-level sport and youth programs. In Australia, it is estimated that around 100,000 concussions occur every year and many go undetected. This can have long-term neurological consequences, particularly for children.
With concussion management a topical health issue worldwide, the company has entered international markets including the UK and Canada.
HITIQ is a part of Victoria’s thriving sport and technology ecosystem. The state is home to 39 per cent of Australian sports tech businesses and almost half of the nation’s sports tech jobs.
