Lights, camera, action for property once owned by a star
Upgrades to the accommodation offerings at the historic Mooramong Estate are now complete.
The project delivered a total of 35 new beds at the property including:
- Restoration, upgrades and furnishing of three cottages (Overseers, Rouseabouts & Stockmans)
- Three secluded and cosy tiny homes
- Restoration works to the Single Gentleman’s Quarters to provide two premium, DDA compliant, bespoke apartments
The project was made possible with our support and was delivered by the National Trust of Australia (Victoria), who also manage the property.
Located in Skipton, western Victoria, Mooramong Homestead is a retreat formerly occupied by Hollywood silent movie star Claire Adams and her affluent husband Donald Mackinnon.
Built in the early 1860s, the couple remodelled the property in 1938. Its features include a swimming pool, cabanas, games room and bar.
In addition to the accommodation options, the property is home to a 4,000-acre working farm, running sheep and producing crops.
The estate also incorporates the Mackinnon Nature Reserve which houses a wide range of wildlife and counts kangaroos, swamp wallabies and brolgas as residents. Birds of prey such as wedge tailed eagles can also be spotted at the reserve.
