Local medtech manufacturer boosts jobs and healthcare

The International Medical Robotics Academy (IMRA) Surgical has opened a new facility in Port Melbourne. This is creating 10 new high-skilled jobs and delivering a $3.5 million capital investment in Victoria over 2 years.

IMRA builds realistic artificial human organs and tissue. These are used in robotic surgery training. The new facility is expanding IMRA’s manufacturing outputs to meet growing global demand.

The company’s training model torsos can be reused due to their unique ‘rehealing’ technology. This makes them a more sustainable and cheaper alternative to traditional training models. It also means:

• faster patient recovery
• procedures that are less invasive
• fewer surgery complications
• lower healthcare costs.

IMRA’s new facility is boosting Victoria’s reputation as a leader in advanced manufacturing and health technologies. It is also growing research partnerships with local institutes such as:
