Melbourne smashes hotel records for Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix

Formula 1 fans were flocking to stay in Melbourne in the first weekend of March to get their racing fix.
Australia’s sporting capital was the perfect host reaching new heights of hotel occupancy and once again beating last year’s record.
Over 3 exciting days, from 5 to 7 March, the city reached 92.3% occupancy in the CBD.
On the Saturday occupancy hit an all-time high of 95.6% with the number of hotel rooms sold the highest ever for the Melbourne CBD. It beat 2025’s peak of 94.7% occupancy.
Events like the Grand Prix make Melbourne come alive. With fans travelling from all over Australia and the world, filling hotels and restaurants, they take in not just the excitement of the race but the excitement of our city.
