Mondelēz International has opened its most advanced storage and retrieval facility in the world in Melbourne’s west - delivering a $130 million boost to Victoria’s thriving food manufacturing sector.

The 47,000 m2 state of the art National Distribution Centre in Truganina will process more than 450 million products annually – including household favourites such as Cherry Ripe and Dairy Milk bars – before making their way to tastebuds across Australia and the region.

More than 200 new warehousing, co-packing and manufacturing jobs will be created at the facility. This adds to the more than 1,200 Victorians already employed by Mondelēz across its sites including:

  • South Melbourne,
  • Ringwood,
  • Scoresby
  • Dandenong South.

In a win for the environment, the facility is powered by 100% renewable electricity and will cut truck emissions by consolidating operations from 4 existing distribution centres.

The new facility reinforces Victoria’s status as Australia’s largest food and beverage manufacturer – an industry worth $47 billion and employing more than 76,000 Victorians. Mondelēz contributes close to $1 billion to the national economy annually – with more than half of that economic activity centred in Victoria.

We recently launched the Victorian Industry Policy and $150 million Victorian Investment Fund to support even more companies to invest, expand and innovate locally.
