Victoria’s TAFEs are working with industry to develop new types of training for jobs in renewable energy.

Supported by our VET Certificates in Renewable Energy program, TAFEs across Victoria have designed new clean energy courses and materials.

Some of these projects are to create ‘micro-credentials’. These are small certification courses that people can do to upskill in their career or as an add-on for their current studies.

The courses could be available at TAFEs and secondary schools from next year.

TAFE Gippsland is creating 3 micro-credentials in:

  • home electrification
  • offshore wind
  • community engagement for clean energy projects.

Melbourne Polytechnic and Holmesglen Institute are developing courses about updating homes with renewable energy.

Kangan Institute has designed courses to help electricians learn about charging electric vehicles. It has also installed new charging equipment to give students hands-on experience.

South West TAFE has created new training resources on electric vehicle charging.

Swinburne University of Technology is producing 5 micro-credentials for electricians to help them gain skills in renewable integrated power systems.

Federation TAFE is exploring pathways for students into future careers as wind technicians.

The Gordon is helping to deliver renewable energy training in secondary school. It is developing the Certificate II in Renewable Energy Technologies and Applications.

We have set targets to move to 95% renewable energy by 2035 and achieve net zero by 2045. We're investing in Victoria’s TAFEs to ensure a skilled workforce to deliver these goals.
