Victoria will be home to a new academy supporting vocational education and training (VET) teachers, trainers and assessors.

The VET Educator Academy will:

  • support and upskill VET educators
  • improve pathways into the VET workforce
  • help VET educators to build rewarding and long-lasting careers.

It will lead the way on initiatives to:

  • strengthen the national VET sector
  • identify skills gaps
  • address workforce challenges.

Chisholm Institute will lead the academy from its Frankston campus.

The academy will operate within Victoria’s TAFE network. It will also build local and national partnerships. Initiatives developed by the academy will be scaled up and rolled out across the country.

Together, the Australian and Victorian Governments are investing more than $10 million in the VET Educator Academy.

VET teachers can teach at TAFEs and registered training organisations. To become a VET teacher, you need to complete a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. This qualification is available through Free TAFE.
