Melbourne Pathology are set to open a state-of-the-art pathology and research hub later this year at the former Costco site in Docklands. The project expects to create more than 200 full-time jobs during construction, and 250 new ongoing jobs once completed.

The centre will double Melbourne Pathology’s operational footprint. It includes over 10,000 sqm of laboratory space capable of processing 200,000 tests each day.

Expanded services will include:

  • advanced genomic testing
  • a future drone landing area to transport time sensitive products to and from hospitals and collection centres across regional Victoria.

It's expected that the centre’s more than 700 staff will help revitalise the northern end of the Docklands by injecting more than $6 million in the local economy every year.

Victoria’s healthtech sector is one of the fastest growing in Australia. The sector employs over 51,000 people across the state. It generates $3.8 billion worth of exports and revenue of more than $12.7 billion.

Our investment of more than $1.1 billion in health and medical research over the last decade continues to:

  • drive growth
  • create jobs
  • support incredible breakthroughs in treatment and care.
