New Melton TAFE to build our construction workforce
Melton residents can look forward to accessing quality TAFE facilities and training at a new construction-focused TAFE campus nearby.
A proposed site has been agreed for a new Kangan Institute campus in Melton. The new, high-quality TAFE facility is expected to open to students in 2028.
Kangan Institute’s Melton campus will focus on training in construction and associated trades. It will support around 800 students each year.
The proposed site of the new TAFE campus is on the corner of Hollingsworth Drive and Ferris Road in Cobblebank. It is near to the Cobblebank train station, across from Council’s Western Business Accelerator and Centre of Excellence (BACE) and close to schools and the future hospital.
Kangan Institute was selected to build and operate the Melton campus because of its geographical connection to the area and its strengths in construction and trades training.
The City of Melton is one of Australia’s fastest growing areas – its population is forecast to grow by more than 215,000 people by 2046. Melton residents currently have no TAFE campuses close to home.
The Victorian Government has invested $55 million towards the new campus through the Building Better TAFE Fund.
This fund is ensuring students have the best facilities to train in, close to home. It is also providing for a new Kangan Institute campus in Sunbury, a Centre of Excellence in Disability Inclusion at The Gordon in Geelong and a Bendigo TAFE Community Health and Learning Hub in Castlemaine.
