New members of the Small Business Ministerial Council appointed

A chair and 6 members have been appointed to the Small Business Ministerial Council.

The council plays a key role in supporting Victoria’s small business sector. Its responsibilities include:

  • provide advice to the Victorian Government on key issues that affect small businesses
  • advocate for Victoria’s small businesses
  • provide a voice for small businesses across the state.

Dr Suji Sanjeevan (MBBS, Medicine) has been appointed as the new chair of the council. She is the co-founder and CEO of Light & Glo Designs and is also the co-founder and director of BrandScent.

The new council members bring diverse expertise and business experience from a wide range of industries:

  • Dr Michael Akindeju, PhD – Principal Process Engineering Consultant and Director of MKPro Group
  • Susan Benedyka  – Managing Director of The Regional Development Company
  • Niti Bhargava , MIPA, AFA – Founder and Principal Broker at GB Financiials
  • John Burgess  – First Nations business owner, CEO and Director of Strategy for Little Rocket
  • Orianna Edmonds  – Founder and CEO of Naturally Goat
  • Claire Elkin  – Founder of Engineering Equilibrium.

Small businesses are vital to Victoria’s economy. More than 718,000 small businesses across the state employ over 1.3 million people and generate more than $417 billion annually.
