New partnership to support First Peoples tourism in Victoria
There is new support to help meet growing demand for First Peoples‑led tourism experiences and to support First Peoples tourism businesses across the state.
The Quality First Peoples Tourism Business Program will help Victoria create meaningful, authentic and culturally connected tourism.
It is a partnership between Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) and the Kinaway Chamber of Commerce . It will support new and established First Peoples tourism operators through:
- workshops
- mentoring, and
- market-readiness.
This $2.5 million program has been developed through extensive community consultation. It is an important step in cultural recognition to spotlight Victoria’s position in the visitor economy.
The program is in addition to a number of initiatives to support First Peoples tourism, such as:
- The Experience Victoria 2033 strategic plan. This highlights First Peoples‑led experiences as a key priority for the state’s future tourism growth.
- The First Peoples Tourism Plan for Victoria 2025–2030. This focusses on cultural pride, sustainable tourism, and increasing First Peoples participation in Victoria’s $46 billion visitor economy.
- The Victorian Government’s Yuma Yirramboi (Invest in Tomorrow) Aboriginal economic development strategy.
Expressions of interest will open soon.
