New TAFE Centres of Excellence coming to Victoria
Victoria will be home to 2 new TAFE Centres of Excellence.
These national hubs will help Victorians upskill in community care and digital technology.
A new Digital, AI and Technology Centre of Excellence will be established at Chisholm Institute’s campus in Frankston.
It will be alongside the state-of-the-art learning hub for IT and cyber security already on the campus.
Over the next 10 years, more than 1.2 million Victorian workers will need digital skills. The new centre will help Victorians learn emerging technologies, including AI.
The new Home and Community Care Centre of Excellence will help meet the growing demand for home‑based care.
It will be located at Holmesglen Institute’s Moorabbin campus and will feature a smart house.
The smart house will be fitted with adaptive technology. It will give students hands‑on experience with remote care tools, automation, and modern work practices.
Victoria’s community care sector is one of the largest and fastest‑growing in the state. It is estimated that more than 86,000 extra workers will be needed by 2027.
The Australian Government and Victorian Government are jointly funding these projects, worth a combined $50.67 million.
These new centres will ensure Victorian TAFE students have access to modern, in‑demand skills.
This is just one of the ways the Victorian Government is making sure our skilled workforce is ready for the digital, AI jobs of the future.
As outlined in our AI Mission Statement, we are supporting all Victorians to understand, use and benefit from AI.
