Nyaal Banyul welcomes more than 12,000 visitors in first month
Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre has welcomed more than 12,200 people in its first month of operation.
Since opening in July, the venue has hosted 15 events across community, business and conference sectors. These events have brought locals and visitors through the doors and helped put Geelong and the Bellarine in the spotlight.
These events have already injected around $1.2 million into the local economy.
Events in the first month included:
- the Community Open Day
- Geelong Careers Expo
- Barwon Health Foundation Gala Ball
- Business Managers Victoria Annual Leadership Conference
- Associations Forum National Conference
- the Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative NAIDOC Ball.
The strong start shows the venue can serve both the local community and major business events. It also shows the role Nyaal Banyul can play in growing regional Victoria’s visitor economy.
Visitors attending events at the venue are supporting local hotels, cafés, restaurants, shops and suppliers. This helps create flow-on benefits for local businesses and workers across the region.
A strong pipeline of events is still to come. This includes the Tourism Greater Geelong and the Bellarine Annual Conference.
Nyaal Banyul is helping strengthen Geelong’s position as a destination for major events and supporting jobs and economic activity in regional Victoria.
