Victorians who face barriers to training and employment will continue to get support from the Reconnect program.

The program is for people who are not engaged in education, employment or training. This includes:

  • people experiencing long-term unemployment
  • asylum seekers
  • young people impacted by the justice system
  • people with current or previous experience in out-of-home care.

Reconnect providers offer targeted, one-on-one wraparound support.

The services include:

  • counselling
  • mentoring
  • housing support
  • education opportunities
  • health and wellbeing services
  • foundation and employability skills.

TAFEs, Learn Locals and community service organisations deliver the Reconnect program across Victoria.

Since the program began in 2016, Reconnect has helped thousands of people to go into further study, complete training or find employment.

During the 4 years from 2021 to 2024, the program supported over 7,500 people. More than 4,000 people (54 per cent) engaged in education and training. More than 1,100 people found employment.

We are investing more than $48 million to extend the program for another 4 years.
