Regional Victoria welcomes Harlem Globetrotters
The Harlem Globetrotters have made their long-awaited return to Victoria this month. They're playing 4 out of 6 games in stadiums across regional Victoria.
Known for their humour, acts of goodwill and spectacular feats on the courts, the world-famous team delighted fans with their tricks, jaw-dropping moves and basketball artistry.
Thousands of fans witnessed a century of legendary moves and gravity-defying dunks in action at:
- Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium
- Ballarat Sports Events Centre (Selkirk Stadium)
- Bendigo Stadium.
All 3 stadiums are currently undergoing upgrades as part of our Regional Sports Infrastructure Program.
City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Tracey Hargreaves said it was fantastic to welcome the iconic Harlem Globetrotters to Ballarat.
‘The Globetrotters are world-famous, so to be able to host the team at Selkirk Stadium was such a thrill,’ she said.
‘It is great to be able to showcase our capacity to host high-quality entertainment at a venue like the Ballarat Sports Events Centre.
‘We know these types of events are so important economically for our city. They help us attract visitors from across the state, which is great for the local hospitality, accommodation and retail providers.’
The stadiums are 3 of 18 Regional Sports Infrastructure Program projects across regional Victoria.
All 3 projects should be completed in the coming months. It's making our communities even better places to live, work, stay and play.
