Scenic adventures await walkers, cyclists and nature lovers in Gippsland
Visitors can now enjoy upgraded shared-use trails at Gippsland’s stunning Rokeby to Neerim trail. There are also big plans to extend the trail to Noojee. Major upgrades created a smoother, safer and more accessible experience. The trail is enjoyed by walkers, cyclists and nature lovers alike.
The track winds through the lush landscapes of Crossover Regional Park and offers sweeping views of the Tarago Reservoir, Mt Baw Baw and beyond.
The project is supported though the Regional Tourism Investment Fund.
The project delivered:
- new and upgraded trails connecting from Rokeby through to the Apex lookout in Neerim
- a striking new timber and steel gateway to mark the start of the trail
- detailed plans and preconstruction work to extend the trail to Noojee
- a lookout and picnic area
- an amenities block.
Nature-based tourism is at the heart of Gippsland’s appeal. This is supported through investment in tourism infrastructure. Works nearby have doubled the size of the trail network at Haunted Hills, and construction is underway to upgrade the East Gippsland Rail Trail from Simpsons Creek via Orbost. Both projects are supported through the Regional Tourism Investment Fund.
The upgrades were delivered by Baw Baw Shire Council who also contributed $1 million to the project.
