Playing sport in Shepparton is about to get a whole lot easier with upgrades to the Shepparton Sports Precinct.

VISY Stadium

At VISY Stadium, upgrades to the indoor basketball courts give local teams like the Shepparton Gators a fresh space to play with new equipment to back up the talent.

"The upgrade to the stadium only entices more people to come along" says Matt Bartlett of the Shepparton Gators Basketball Club.

"Having access to these facilities for the Gators really creates a really enjoyable atmosphere to be part of."

The new modern upgrades include:

  • new shot clocks
  • scoreboards
  • basketball rings
  • fresh line markings.

The venue will be future-proofed for years to come with:

  • safety improvements to the courts
  • roof renovations
  • a new mezzanine.

Brand-new multi-use change rooms are also on the way. They will be available for groups using both the stadium and oval – helping to make sport more accessible for everyone.

These upgrades will also support Shepparton clubs to boost their membership and programs as the city continues to grow.

Yanha Gurtji Shared Path

The Yanha Gurtji Shared Path will expand by more than 2.3 km to create a scenic and cultural link between Shepparton and Mooroopna. We're adding:

  • a new bridge
  • seating
  • signage.

The path will link local sites and offer an accessible route for walkers and cyclists.

These new shared paths will make the area easier and safer to walk throughout the precinct. It will improve the connections between BMX, netball, football and hockey venues.

Economic impact

The works are supporting up to 80 jobs, with several local contractors, businesses and suppliers engaged. It will ensure the investment stays in the region with benefits flowing back to the community.

The upgraded venues and spaces will allow Shepparton to host more major events and competitions – bringing locals together and attracting more visitors to town. This added activity will give a boost to local businesses and help strengthen the regional economy.

The project is being delivered by Greater Shepparton City Council and supported through the Council Support Package.
