Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix
In 2027, the event will be bigger than ever, and the dates are in: Thursday 1 April to Sunday 4 April at the famous Albert Park track.
Next year's event will be highlighted by the first-ever Sprint Race in Australia on Saturday. Sprints are shorter races lasting around 30 minutes. The Sprint Race will also include qualifying on the Friday, giving fans even more exciting racing.
That's not all, though. Alongside 4 days of adrenaline-pumping world-class motorsport there's a bursting program of:
- off-track entertainment
- family-friendly activations
- live music
- and immersive precincts designed to engage audiences of all ages – all during the school holidays.
The Formula 1® Australian Grand Prix brings visitors from around the world to Victoria and is a massive contributor to the state’s $48.6 billion visitor economy.
The record-breaking 2026 event had an estimated attendance of 483,934 fans.
Melbourne’s accommodation and hospitality sector saw a massive boost too. According to Costar, Saturday occupancy during last year’s Grand Prix hit an all-time high of 95.6%. That's the highest ever number of hotel rooms sold in Melbourne’s CBD.
Albert Park Pit Building
Fans will get a taste of the new pit building when gates open in April.
Originally built in 1995, the facility is being replaced to bring it into the 21st century. Works are currently underway and will continue through to completion in 2028.
The 2027 race will utilise a combination of existing, new and temporary facilities with completed garages and a 2,500-capacity Melbourne Podium Club.
