Ten thousand apprentices get qualified in 2025
More than 10,000 Victorian apprentices completed their training in 2025. They are now job-ready with in-demand skills.
Apprentices who complete their training receive a trade paper. A trade paper is a certificate showing they are qualified and ready to start their career.
More than half the trade papers issued in 2025 were for:
- carpentry
- electrical
- plumbing.
Fifty thousand trade papers have been issued since 2019. They’re issued for 214 different qualifications. As well as construction trades, trade papers are issued for:
- hairdressing
- motor mechanics
- civil construction
- cookery.

We're helping apprentices to navigate work, training and personal challenges. Support services available to apprentices include:
Apprentice Helpdesk
The Apprentice Helpdesk provides free information, support and advice. It can help with any questions about apprenticeships or traineeships in Victoria. The helpdesk has supported more than 1500 people since launching in June.
The Apprentice Helpdesk is available from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). Contact 1300 311 820 or apprenticehelpdesk@djsir.vic.gov.au.
Apprentice Employee Assistance Program
Apprentices and trainees can access free counselling through Apprentice Employee Assistance Program. It provides confidential, short-term support for:
- mental health challenges
- personal issues
- difficult workplace situations
- financial concerns.

Apprentice Support Officers
Apprentice Support Officers are very knowledgeable about the apprenticeship system in Victoria. They can help via phone, email or text, a workplace visit or a longer period of contact if needed.
