Tide turns at Tidal River
Construction has begun on the next phase of the Wilsons Promontory Revitalisation project. Upgrades of the Tidal River Visitor Centre are now underway.
Melbourne-based construction company Eastern Property Services (EPS) have been appointed as project contractor.
This includes improvements such as:
- interior and exterior upgrades
- minor building extension
- landscaping
- external paths
- tables and seating
- signage
- information kiosks.
The project is supported by a $23 million investment from our Tourism Infrastructure Program.
The project will make the visitor experience more accessible and sustainable. This phase of the project builds on accessibility improvements to the Prom Wildlife Walk, completed in December 2024.
A fully accessible toilet block and changing facilities will also be built next to the visitor centre. This is supported by a $1.7 million investment from our Victoria's Great Outdoors and Changing Places programs.
Tidal River has many accommodation options including the most popular camping ground in the national park. It is also the main visitor hub at Wilsons Promontory.
Wilsons Prom is one of Victoria’s most popular national parks. It spans 50,000 hectares at the southernmost tip of mainland Australia. More than 500,000 people visit each year who seek the beautiful beaches, hiking, wildlife and scenery.
