Victoria is shaping the future of wellness travel
Wellness tourism is about slowing down and stepping away from everyday stress, and more people are embracing it. Globally, it’s set to be worth over $1.5 trillion in coming years.
With its natural assets and experiences, Victoria is a top spot for wellness tourism. Such as:
- mineral springs
- geothermal waters
- lush retreats, and
- stunning natural landscapes.
What makes Victoria stand out is not just the diversity of landscapes and experiences, but their proximity. Within a few hours of Melbourne, visitors can move from city to coast, forest to spa, or cultural experience to nature retreat. It's a wellness journey that is uniquely Victorian.

Wellness tourism is a priority for Victoria
Wellness tourism is one of Victoria’s highest-value visitor segments. Travellers seeking rest and rejuvenation tend to stay longer, spend more, and visit year-round. This visitor behaviour boosts local economies and creates jobs in regional areas.
Recognising its potential, we've prioritised wellness tourism:
- as a key pillar in Experience Victoria 2033, the state’s plan to grow the visitor economy. View the strategy
- by creating A guide to wellness tourism investment: from concept to reality to support businesses and investors in planning, launching, and expanding sustainable wellness projects. The guide is available on Tourism Investment Support
- balancing tourism growth with the protection of its natural and cultural heritage with frameworks like Mineral Springs Master Plan 2025 – 2032 to ensure resources are carefully managed and preserved.
