Victoria says yes to international students
Victoria’s world-class universities and TAFEs will take their education offering to the world, thanks to support from the Victorian Government.
16 education providers will receive grants of up to $280,000 to deliver courses to international students outside Australia. This will build on the state’s leadership in transnational education.
The $5 million Yes to International Students Fund is supporting vocational and higher education providers grow partnerships with reputable overseas providers. This is across Victoria’s international education network, including:
- China
- India
- Indonesia
- Vietnam
- Sri Lanka.
The projects funded will go towards:
- establishing offshore campuses
- creating new courses
- expanding existing programs
- student exchange programs and more.
Delivering Victoria’s world-class education overseas brings huge benefits back to the state. Such as:
- growing the economy
- strengthening the global reputation of Victoria’s institutions
- giving staff and students in each country mobility and more opportunities for research, career development and further study.
The fund is being delivered through our Economic Growth Statement as a key initiative to open doors. It will give international businesses and institutions certainty that Victoria is a state where they can invest, expand and innovate.
As the state’s largest services export and largest single export, international education is a key priority for Victoria. It has generated $15.9 billion in revenue and contributed to around 64,000 jobs in 2024.
