Victoria triumphs at Australian Top Tourism Town Awards

Victoria has claimed a podium finish in every category at the 2026 Australia's Top Tourism Town Awards, with 3 outstanding regional destinations and one exceptional tour guide recognised on the national stage.

Announced at Parliament House in Canberra on 15 September 2026, the awards celebrate the very best of regional tourism across Australia, shining a spotlight on destinations and experiences that continue to inspire visitors to explore more of the country.

Portsea named Australia’s Tiny Tourism Town

Tiny Tourism Town Award (population under 1,500)

• Gold – Portsea, VIC (Mornington Peninsula Shire Council)
• Silver – Toogoolawah, QLD
• Bronze – Port Arthur, TAS

At the tip of the Mornington Peninsula, Portsea took out the national title of Tiny Tourism Town, cementing its place as one of Victoria’s most remarkable coastal destinations.

Renowned for its stunning beaches, dramatic clifftop scenery and rich history, Portsea offers visitors the best of both bay and ocean experiences. Portarlington secured third place in the Small Tourism Town category, reflecting its growing reputation as one of Victoria’s premier coastal destinations.

• Gold – Stanthorpe, QLD
• Silver – Kiama, NSW
• Bronze – Echuca, VIC (Campaspe Shire Council)

Echuca claimed third place in the Top Tourism Town category, highlighting the strength of one of Victoria’s most celebrated regional destinations.

Set on the banks of the iconic Murray River, Echuca blends rich heritage with vibrant contemporary tourism. Famous for its historic paddlesteamers, beautifully preserved Port Precinct and strong connection to the Yorta Yorta people, Echuca continues to stand out as a true Victorian tourism icon.

Top Tour Guide Award

• Gold – Laura Stone, Sydney By Kayak, NSW
• Silver – Jools De Loryn, Go West Tours, VIC (Go West Tours)
• Bronze – Angie Ouyang, National Museum of Australia, ACT
