Victorian wines shine again at France’s iconic Cité du Vin

Victorian wines are once again taking centre-stage at La Cité du Vin – the world’s largest wine museum – with Global Victoria’s support.

Seven Victorian wineries will be showcased across the year at the iconic Bordeaux museum. This is reinforcing Victoria’s reputation as a premium winemaking destination among international wine lovers, tourists and industry professionals.

La Cité du Vin is a major tourist attraction that is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2026. It is the only unique cultural centre dedicated to the universal, living heritage of wine. It has welcomed more than 3.5 million visitors since 2016.

This follows a successful lineup of Victorian wines for the 2025 Cité du Vin exhibition.

The wineries on show are from 6 different wine regions including Hume, Barwon, the Grampians and the Yarra Valley, showcasing the diversity and vibrancy of our $9 billion wine industry.

Victoria’s wine industry is world-class, boasting:

  • over 700 wineries
  • 770 grape growers
  • 21 distinctive wine regions.

We are home to more wineries than any other state – with the exports generating $186 million in 2024-25.

In partnership with Agriculture Victoria and the Victorian wine industry, we launched the Victorian Wine Strategy 2025-30 in September 2025. The strategy will boost our thriving wine sector as we work with industry to:

  • grow and maintain local consumption of Victorian wine
  • increase the export of our world-class wine to international markets.

The Victorian Government’s Economic Growth Statement identifies trade as a key driver of the state’s economy. Our $34.9 million Boosting Victorian Exports Package is helping more businesses take their world-class products to global markets.
