mRNA Victoria’s Impact Report showcases 5 years of achievements, highlighting Victoria’s global leadership, regional impact and investment in medical breakthroughs.

Global innovation, based in Victoria

Victoria is recognised as a leading Asia-Pacific hub for mRNA research. Global pioneers Moderna and BioNTech have established research centres and manufacturing facilities in the state. It's helping place Victoria at the forefront of this life-saving technology.

Investing in medical breakthroughs

More than $34 million in funding has supported research into new treatments, including for:

  • cancer
  • HIV
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • rare childhood diseases.

Victoria’s investment extends beyond human health. Funding is also helping researchers apply RNA technology to agriculture, including animal health and crop protection.

Investing for the future

mRNA Victoria is building future workforce and AI capability through the mRNA Workforce Training Centre and the Australian Centre for AI in Medical Innovation.
