Victoria’s TAFEs leading the nation in clean energy training

Victoria has a target of 95% renewable energy generation by 2035. This is creating jobs and apprenticeships. It is also increasing demand for skilled workers.

Victoria’s TAFEs are building the skilled workforce we need for the growing clean energy sector.

Renewable Energy TAFE Centre of Excellence

Victoria will be home to the new Renewable Energy TAFE Centre of Excellence.

The centre will be a national leader in training to support the future of renewable energy.

The Centre of Excellence will:

• develop training in new types of energy generation, infrastructure and networks
• drive collaboration between industry, government and training providers
• use digital training and virtual reality technology to simulate real-world conditions
• give students hands-on experience with offshore wind infrastructure, smart grids and more.

TAFE Gippsland will lead the Centre of Excellence from its Morwell campus. There will be facilities at TAFE campuses across Victoria.
A consortium of TAFEs will work with TAFE Gippsland to set up the Centre. It includes South West TAFE, Holmesglen Institute and Federation TAFE.

The Australian and Victorian Governments are together investing $50 million in this initiative.

Clean Energy Centre at TAFE Gippsland

The new Clean Energy Centre has opened at TAFE Gippsland’s Morwell campus.

The centre includes modern facilities and simulation equipment. This gives students real-world experience while they are training.

Students can train to work with clean and sustainable energy technologies, such as:

• solar power
• battery technology
• hybrid and electric vehicles

We have invested $5 million in this initiative.
