Did you know the Victorian Information Communications and Technology sector contributed more than $34 billion to the economy in 2023-24?

The annual Victorian Digital Technology Sector factsheet provides an overview of the sector. It's based on findings from a sector-wide survey.

The 2024 factsheet highlights our state’s thriving digital technology sector and digital economy, with stats including:

  • Victorian Digital Technology businesses generated over $142 billion in revenue in FY24.
  • Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) is rapidly increasing with 85% of businesses using these.
  • Victoria had over 306,000 people employed in the Victorian technology workforce in 2024. This accounts for 8% of the Victorian workforce.

It also provides a current snapshot of Victorian digital technology businesses, including size, age, location and export activity.

Digital technology is a foundation of countless industries here in Victoria, such as:

  • healthcare
  • finance
  • business
  • agriculture
  • and more.

This means it is a key driver of the economy and boosts productivity and innovation in these industries. A strong digital technology sector creates a strong Victorian economy.
