The transformation of Moe’s Ted Summerton Reserve is giving local clubs more opportunities to play and compete.

It is also boosting the regional economy.

The upgrade has supported more than 370 jobs and engaged more than 80 businesses, keeping skills and wages in the region.

For Brad from local family business Contracting Kings, the project has supported local jobs.

His team installed the new sports lighting, helping employ apprentices and local workers.

More than $11 million from the Regional Sports Infrastructure Program has supported the upgrade. It includes:

  • Main oval: new playing surface, turf cricket wicket, player shelters, goal posts and netting.
  • Around the oval: New electronic scoreboard and LED lighting.
  • Pavilion: new female-friendly change rooms, accessible facilities and two new upstairs media rooms.
  • New netball pavilion: with player and umpire change rooms, plus storage and administration spaces.

New accessible paths will feature Gunaikurnai artwork by Moe Gunnai artist Alice Pepper.

Undercover terraced areas are also taking shape at both ends of the reserve and new cricket nets are well underway.

The venue will help clubs grow, attract competitions and visitors, and bring more customers to local businesses.
