Stargazing Gippsland
Gippsland – region wide
Step into an out-of-this-world experience in Gippsland these school holidays.
We’ve supported the development of the Stargazing Gippsland website to make it easy to find the best spots to stargaze in Gippsland this September and October.
The website outlines the best locations to see the Milky Way with each location featuring memorable artwork by local Gunaikurnai Monero artist Alfred Hudson.
Thanks to Gippsland’s broad horizon views and clear night skies, it’s worth looking up.

Healesville Raptor Centre
Healesville Sanctuary
The Raptor Rehabilitation Centre at Healesville Sanctuary gives animal lovers young and old the chance to watch on as staff care for native bird species, including wedge-tailed eagles, hawks, falcons and owls.
Funded through a Victorian Government investment, the centre runs small-group tours that give visitors the chance to get a closer look at how advances in medical science and animal welfare are helping to care for our unique Australian wildlife.

Chelsea Australian Gardens
Olinda
Ten years after creating the first-ever Australian entry to win Gold and Best in Show at the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show in London, landscape designer Phillip Johnson re-created his award-winning Australian Garden in the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden in Olinda.
Featuring 15,000 plants from over 400 native Australian species, the garden is more than 20 times the size of the original Chelsea Flower Show build, converting a section of the former Olinda Golf Course into a stunning botanical garden – not only supporting biodiversity and habitat creation in the area, but offering a stunning day out for visitors, especially during springtime!
