Benefits

We provide benefits that will support you personally and professionally.

Banking

You can split your pay across up to five different accounts.

Social club

The social club is run by a committee of volunteers from across the department. They organise and host social events and activities throughout the year. It's a great way to get to know workmates, build networks and have fun.

Salary sacrifice

We offer salary sacrifice payment options, the most common of which are superannuation and novated vehicle leasing.

Commuter club (MYKI)

The commuter club offers discounted rates for public transport users. It is open to all ongoing employees, and to employees on fixed-term contracts where the initial employment contract is 12 months or longer.

Recognition of prior government services

For long service leave purposes, we recognise prior government service of new employees – those who were previously employed in the Victorian public service or public sector, or by another state or territory's public service or public sector. If you are transferring from another Victorian Public Service body, your service will be automatically recognised.

Environment

We are committed to using resources more efficiently and reducing the environmental impact of the work we do. The department runs staff environmental campaigns throughout the year, and we have an active network of staff environment representatives.

Balancing work and life

We understand that you need time for things other than work. That's why we offer a wide range of ways you can do your job, such as working from home, working flexible hours and purchasing extra leave.

Leave

We have many types of leave available to support you through various life events and help you to maintain a healthy work-life balance. These include annual leave, an extended leave scheme, leave without pay, long service leave, compassionate leave and purchased leave.

Parental leave

If you have a baby or adopt a child, we will support you with parental leave options.

Community-based leave

We value your work in the community, and we will give you leave to donate blood, take part in cultural and ceremonial events, serve in the defence reserve, serve on a jury, participate in sporting events, and volunteer in the community or help out during emergencies.

Family violence leave

We recognise that employees sometimes experience violence or abuse that make it hard to attend or perform at work.

Our family violence leave gives affected employees the financial and wellbeing support to deal with the stress and trauma of family violence, and allows them to attend medical appointments, legal proceedings and support services.

Mental health and wellbeing

We offer a range of events, initiatives and resources throughout the year to support our people to manage their mental health and wellbeing (both in and out of the workplace).

Carers' / wellbeing rooms

If you need a quiet place for yourself or for family members you're caring for, you can use our carers' and wellbeing rooms. These rooms can be used for short-term rest, prayer, for breast feeding or if you're feeling unwell.

Coaching and counselling

Employees and family members can get personalised coaching and counselling services from the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which helps with work-related and personal problems affecting you or your family such as

  • family, relationship and marital problems
  • balancing  family and work-related issues, including conflict and harassment
  • financial problems
