LGBTIQA+ workplace inclusion

In line with our core values of accountability, integrity and respect, DJPR strives to have a workforce that reflects our diverse community and is inclusive of all people, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex, queer and questioning (LGBTIQA+) people.

2020 saw DJPR publish guides to support trans and gender diverse team members and their managers, make online LGBTIQA+ awareness training available to all team members, participate in key LGBTIQA+ events and more.

DJPR celebrated LGBTIQA+ culture with its inaugural Pride Festival in June 2020, an initiative of the DJPR Pride Network that all team members were invited to participate in.

In 2021, we are focused on further delivering our LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy to strengthen our commitment to a more inclusive and supportive workplace for LGBTIQA+ people, building on the work already undertaken to promote LGBTIQ inclusion within the department. Key areas of focus include:

• Engagement and support of our employee network and LGBTIQA+ allies
• Ensuring our practices and policies are based on best practice to support outcomes for LGBTIQA+ team members, and
• Strengthening an inclusive workplace culture through our ongoing partnerships with LGBTIQA+ organisations.

Our focus areas will continue to be informed by our Pride Network, as well as participation in the Australian Workplace Equality Index and learnings from organisations including Pride in Diversity.

Pride Network for LGBTIQA+ Inclusion

DJPR’s LGBTIQA+ inclusion work is greatly enhanced by our active Pride Network, made up of LGBTIQA+ employees and allies. DJPR’s Pride Network is also an active member of the Victorian Public Sector Pride Network.

Pride in Diversity

DJPR is a member of Pride in Diversity, Australia’s national not-for-profit employer support program for all aspects of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex and questioning (LGBTIQA+) workplace inclusion.

Events

DJPR celebrates key events that recognise LGBTIQA+ people, such as Midsumma Festival, Transgender Day of Visibility, IDAHOBIT and Wear it Purple Day.
