Reportable Conduct Scheme
The Reportable Conduct Scheme is a reporting mechanism that seeks to improve how organisations respond to allegations of child abuse committed by staff or volunteers.
The Scheme requires the department to respond to allegations of misconduct against children or young people under 18 years old ( 'reportable conduct') made against their workers and volunteers, and report those allegations to the Commission for Children and Young People.
What is 'reportable conduct'?
'Reportable conduct' is the below behaviour conduct of persons engaged by the department:
- sexual offences committed against, with or in the presence of a child
- sexual misconduct committed against, with or in the presence of a child
- physical violence against, with or in the presence of a child
- any behaviour that causes significant emotional or psychological harm to a child
- significant neglect of a child.
How to make a report
Any person can report concerns regarding the behaviour of departmental employees, contractors or volunteers for the welfare of children, which the department is required to handle in accordance with the Reportable Conduct Scheme.
