Emergency and resilience functions of the department
We ‘work as one’ with emergency services, government, industry and the community to help ensure Victoria has the resilience to survive, adapt and grow in the face of shocks and stresses it may experience. This includes undertaking activities to plan, prepare, and respond to emergencies and to support relief and recovery.
Responsibilities
The department's emergency management accountabilities are set out in the State Emergency Management Plan. This includes lead and support roles for relief and recovery for:
- small business
- tourism
- economic recovery
- food and grocery supply logistics.
Critical infrastructure
The department works closely with critical infrastructure operators to support resilience and emergency planning for food and grocery supply logistics. This includes oversight of obligations under the Victorian Critical Infrastructure Resilience Strategy.
Emergency response
In the event of an emergency call 000 for fire, ambulance and police. If you have an issue or concern related to the emergency responsibilities for the department contact the DJSIR State Duty Officer on 0428 863 564.
