TAFE Network Statement of Priorities

What is the TAFE Network Statement of Priorities?

Statements of Priorities (SoPs) are agreements between a public service, entity or agency and the relevant minister. In this case, it is an annual agreement between the Minister for Skills and TAFE and Victoria’s TAFE Network. It sets out what’s expected of the TAFE Network for the year ahead. This includes:

    • strategic objectives
    • priority activities
    • outcomes.

    The key priorities

There are 3 areas for the TAFE Network to focus on.

    Our industry partners

We aim for a TAFE Network powered by strong industry and employer partnerships. It will deliver industry-relevant training that leads to job-ready graduates.

    Our students

Our connected TAFE Network will deliver equitable and consistent access to high-quality education. It will provide clear pathways to meaningful learning and employment for every student.

    Our people and places

Our TAFE Network will empower its workforce and strengthen its learning environments. We will foster excellence in teaching, professional development and staff wellbeing. We will make effective use of our campuses and facilities.

    Who implements the priorities?

The TAFE Network Statement of Priorities has been endorsed by the Minister for Skills and TAFE and the leaders of Victoria’s TAFE institutes and dual sector universities. The Office of TAFE Coordination and Delivery (OTCD) works with the TAFE Network to implement the priorities in the statement.

    What are some examples?

    Together, Victoria's TAFEs will:

    • take a networked approach to planning courses. This will ensure effective and accessible TAFE that meets Victoria’s skills needs and delivers improved outcomes
    • identify collective approaches to student support, inclusion and course completion. All Victorian TAFEs will offer high‑quality support services and inclusive learning environments
    • embed digital skills and capability into their operations. They will support their staff to adapt to change in technology, including AI.
